How To: Eat Healthier

When people ask me how to eat healthier, my first suggestion is to remove ultra-processed, toxic, "fake" foods from their diets and most importantly from their homes. Take some time to read the labels on what you have in your home right now, and get rid of/stop purchasing the following:

Vegetable Oils: Vegetable oils are highly inflammatory and should never be used to cook with! Most prepackaged foods are filled with vegetable oils as well such as sauces, salad dressings, fake butters, even plant-based milks

Sweetened Breakfast Foods: If you’re starting your day with sugary cereal and a slice of cinnamon raisin toast with sweetened peanut butter, you’re setting yourself up for a major afternoon crash and metabolic dysfunction.

Products w/ Added Sugars (dressings, sauces, snacks, candy, creamers, etc.): These added sugars wreak havoc on your entire body by causing inflammation and dramatic blood sugar spikes. They raise insulin levels which leads to weight gain, fatigue, and eventually Type 2 diabetes

Processed Flours: these flours have gone through so much processing that they are basically just powdered sugar filled with bleach and other chemicals (I use almond flour instead!)

Soda & Juice: The average can of soda has 39g of sugar!! Plus a million other toxic ingredients that will send your blood sugar levels through the roof. And while juice technically comes from fruit, most juices also have loads of added sugars and are stripped of the beneficial fiber found in whole fruits

Processed Snacks: most chips, crackers, trail mix, granola bars and even nuts are filled with vegetable oils, fake dyes and added sugars and have little to no nutritional value

I know this is a ton of information to digest, so save it, reference it later on and take it step by step! No one is perfect and occasional indulgences won’t hurt you, but I think it’s soooo important to be mindful and aware of the products that we put in our body and always READ THE LABELS
